Abstract: The problem of optimizing the parameters of nonlinear guidance law for guided projectiles is addressed with two simulation-based approaches. The first uses the simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation method to minimize the expected miss distance of the projectile under variable conditions. The second applies a simple Monte Carlo technique that provides complementary information. These approaches are combined to determine guidance law parameters that significantly improve the performance of the guidance law over suboptimal parameters.
