Leveraging Open Source Software to Create Technical Animations of Scientific Data

Report No. ARL-TR-3918
Authors: John M. Vines
Date/Pages: September 2006; 18 pages
Abstract: Open source animation software packages provide a means for which scientists, researchers, and engineers can develop technically correct animation at no cost. The U.S. Army Research Laboratory spends tens of thousands of dollars annually for software licenses for packages such as Maya, Houdini, and 3D Studio Max, while in many instances, an open source package such as Blender3D would suffice.
