Abstract: Gold particles 10 nm in diameter have been uniformly dispersed using a new dispersing agent (ligand) that is a diblock copolymer containing a Diels-Alder linkage between the blocks. Heating the sample to a specified temperature causes the particles to migrate to the surface of the film. This new strategy could be used to create coatings that can be deliberately activated or modified using an external trigger.
