Instrumentation for Aim Point Determination in the Close-in Battle

Report No. ARL-TN-0303
Authors: Gary A. Haas
Date/Pages: December 2007; 15 pages
Abstract: A rifle-mounted, boresighted camera and rugged video recorder can be used to determine where the rifle is pointed at the time the trigger is pulled. This information can be collected in exercises simulating close combat to help us better understand how to optimize small arms for this battle space. In this report, we examine issues in instrumenting the Soldier and suggest an approach to collecting this sort of data.
