Abstract: The effects of buried mine explosions in various soil media are investigated by numerical hydrocode simulations. Tabular equations of state (EOS) for day and wet sanda re constructed. These (EOS) are used in CTH calculations of a steel plate suspended over the detonation of a TNT explosive charge buried in both media. Wet sand imparts significantly higher momentum to the plate than dry sand. Calculations in both two and three spatial dimensions are compared.
