Abstract: A method of detecting tripwires by monitoring the noise produced by airflow across a wire [Sanchez and Alberts, ARL-TN-0379] showed that various wires could be detected out to ranges of 5 cm. This short range is unacceptable if the technique is to be considered useful. Therefore, several improvements have been enacted with the goal of increasing the operating range of the technique. This report details the hardware improvements and their effect on the operating range of the detection method.
