Abstract: That Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems are critical to the infrastructure of modern society and vulnerable to various attacks has been understood for several years. This report provides a brief overview of the technologies that compose SCADA systems, the impacts when SCADA systems fail, a high-level overview of the vulnerabilities present in SCADA systems, and a review of efforts that have been made to mitigate these vulnerabilities to include configuration guides, vulnerability assessments, network intrusion detection, cryptography, and test beds.
