ARL and USMA Hold 16th Annual Technical Symposium
February 02, 2009
More than 175 people including 88 cadets participated in the 16th U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) - United States Military Academy (USMA) Technical Symposium on Oct. 22-23, 2008 at the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J.
The annual joint symposium provides a forum at which West Point Cadets and faculty present and discuss various aspects of ARL-related research projects they conducted during the past year before ARL directors, scientists and engineers, and other West Point faculty and visitors. It also creates an opportunity for West Point faculty and ARL scientists to discuss future collaborative research opportunities. This year's symposium included researchers from other ARL partners such as the Natick Soldier Center and the Institute for Advanced Technology.
The proceedings this year documented the ongoing research efforts of 15 USMA faculty members and over 40 cadets working in collaboration with more than 30 ARL scientists and engineers.
The symposium was sponsored by the Mathematical Sciences Center of Excellence, Department of Mathematical Sciences, USMA and hosted by ARL and USMA. ARL and USMA established the Mathematical Sciences Center of Excellence in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in 1993. The center serves a multidimensional purpose with emphasis on uniting the capabilities of both organizations in a manner that benefits ARL, USMA faculty and cadets, and ultimately, the United States Army.
