Propulsion Modeling

This research supports the LRDCE ERP through predictive multiphase, physics-based models of ignition and combustion of energetic propellants for a range of ignition energy sources in configurations that have not yet been tested.  Through atomistic-based kinetic modeling of reaction rates through continuum level computational fluid dynamics, we assess propulsion concepts overall performance in a variety of Army munitions using advanced interior ballistic models.
