Objective

The U.S. Army Research Laboratory will hold its fourth Open Campus Open House October 18 - 19, 2017 at Aberdeen Proving Ground. This year we ask, "Who is the nation’s premier laboratory for land forces focused on discovery and innovation for the Army of 2035 and beyond?" The U.S. Army Research Laboratory is interested in working with you.

Outcome

Introduction of the Science and Technology (S&T) community to ARL's research scientists and engineers with whom they might collaborate, and to ARL's specialized laboratory facilities that are available to support joint research. This informal two-day event features a variety of scheduled presentations, tours and an opportunity to meet one-on-one with some of the Army's leading researchers.



Who Should Attend

Innovators of all types: Academic Professors, Deans, and Vice-Provosts for Research; Small and Large Businesses; Industry Technical Staff and Management; Business Developers; Government Research Laboratory Technical Staff and Management.



This year's Open Campus Open House will provide participants an opportunity to:

  • Learn about ARL's Open Campus business model
  • Hear details of ARL's strategic research areas
  • Interface with ARL's scientists and engineers to discover opportunities for side-by-side collaboration
  • Visit specialized laboratory facilities at APG
  • Participate in technical presentations and poster sessions
  • Meet one-on-one with some of the Army's leading researchers
  • Engage with regional leaders from ARL's extended sites

18 October Day One

Agenda includes keynote speaker, Open Campus overview, ARL technical campaigns, Partner panel, tours of select ARL Laboratories, and poster sessions.

19 October Day Two

Agenda includes keynote speaker, Warfighter panel, Campaign question and answer session, tours of select ARL Laboratories, and poster sessions.

Sciences for Maneuver:
Basic and applied research focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of advanced mobility systems and their supporting architectures, including decision support sciences, intelligent tactical systems research, and high efficiency energy generation, storage and distribution.

Information Sciences:
Basic and applied research focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of information generation, collection, assurance, distribution and exploitation; high performance electronic components and devices; and synthetic biological systems.

Computational Sciences:
Basic and applied research focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of computer hardware, high efficiency algorithms and novel mathematical methods.

Material Sciences:
Basic and applied research focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of structural, electronic, photonic, and energy materials and devices.

Sciences for Lethality and Protection:
Basic and applied research focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of armor, under body, scalable effects, cyber and electronic warfare, and human injury mechanisms.

Human Sciences:
Basic and applied research focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of Warfighter performance enhancement; training aids; human-machine integration; group formation, dynamics and behaviors; trust and influence; and technology impacts on cultures and society.

Analysis and Assessment:
Development and application of analytical tools and methodologies to quantitatively assess the military utility of Army, DoD and select foreign combat systems, and help influence requirements for future Army systems.
